Has anyone else noticed that there aren't very many Centurions around? I see a lot of Hunchbacks but it seems liek the only time I do see a Centurion it's a Yen-Lo-Wang.

Now I suppose it could just be a quirk of the matchmaker where I'm being thrown into matches without Centurions, but has anyone else noticed this? Why aren't people playing them more?

Wangs earn more money.

I've seen a couple of normal chassis though since you bring it up. Saw some last night actually.

I play a Cent and often i see some others, but u i have also the feeling, that there always more Hunchies around as Cents.

Maybe the ppl like it, to have more lasers then the causal 2 in the Cent.

I've been playing Centurions. I think there's quite a variety with the addition of the CN9-D -- you can really make that mech run fast with an XL engine. I actually enjoy the default weapon loadout on the YLW as well. Once you learn to be patient with that AC/20 you can really rack up a bunch of kills.

People just prefer the Hunchie.

IMO, they are essentailly the same mech with hardpoints moved around, although the hunchie probalby has better variants.

Mostly comes down to whether you like having the main firepower in your arm or your shoulder, and that probably depends on whatever section you think you can keep alive longer, or if you aim better with one or the other.

Hunchies are also more specialised with weaponry, centurions have to make use of all 3 types to be effective most of the time.

People stopped using the bad mechs a week ago.
Ergo, few cents, but plenty of hunchbacks.

I bought a cent with the idea of slotting in a 300xl I had from my cicada.. Only to find that the engine size on most models is seriously limited..
unless I save another 8m for the one model that already comes with the 300 engine...
Can't do what I want..

(can't be slow and have an obvious target like blowing off my arm.. )

So, you aren't likely to see me using this chassis too much..

Really need to be able to see the full details on mechs before purchase...

Hunchback is just better ;) I wonder why it has more torso twist...they should give some to the Cents for more diversity.

I've seen 'em played real effectively in premade. Beyond that, they're rare for good reason - on lonesome in pug, they get smashed pretty easy.

They're not effective there, either. When - or perhapse 'if' - they finally sort it out so you have to play other premades, you'll see the few cents and dragons that are left vaporize.

The Centurion is not my most played 'mech, but I do appreciate the its resilience and the ability of the Cent A to deliver 3 SRM6s in all the same place. Point blank 3 SRM6 all from the left torso makes for concentrated damage.

Part of the problem may be that the wonky arm aiming in this game makes using ACs more difficult than it should be. It's easier to aim with the torso mounted ballistics of a K2.

I found the Centurion 9D to be underwhelming with a 300XL engine - maybe because I didn't want to use a ballistics weapon, which meant 2 SRM6 and 2 ML was an underwhelming loadout.

I like the Cent, good for some missiles and there's a version with plenty of speed. The head and side's are easy to hit, though with a standard engine, they tend to be very durable and the nice 2 slot for energy can be rather useful whilst zombie.

They are apparently all on one team! We were humiliatingly rolled by a group of 8 Centurions yesterday. It was a very educational experience in watching elite teamwork in action! I both applaud and want to nuke those guys the next time we meet! ;) ;) :o

I love my CN9-D with XL300, gauss with 5 tons of ammo and 2 medium lasers almost heat neutral. I'm racking up more kills with that than any other mech I've had and it's also my most enjoyable to play.

Never liked the Cents.. ok that I'm speaking of different weights/classes, but a Dragon does what a Centurion can do much better imho (speaking of arm ballistic mounted weapons and so on..). At least they do not cost that much, maybe I'll try one sooner or later.. but until then I'll stick with my SP/4H/4P variants of Hunchie.

However I encounter several standard Centurions on my way, although I see many tend to lower the shield arm armor so much that they don't get any advantage by torso twisting.

Centurions are less popular than the Hunchback (especially the 4SP variant). Their ballistic arm mount should be their greatest asset, but under current convergence mechanics it's their greatest liability. The torso mounted guns of the ballistic hunchback variants are just more true to reticle.

I see many of them including my friend.
sometimes 3 in a match.

Hunchie does more damage, but's more glassy.

with all the commotion about wand centurion lost some popularity. also cent require a bit more tweaking than hbk and some treaky piloting+hbk maintenance cheaper. personally i don't like hbk (for the looks) and will by cent after i finish capping Raven. wish i could swap founders hbk for any cent.

I run cent's as my main mech, the A's ability to drop 3 srm6's in somones face can be very effective, though I have done far better with the lesser seen AL, with 4 Ml's and 2 srm6's.

Ive found the Cent outmatches most similarly setup hunchies, it's far harder to disable a cent, where it can be almost laughably easy to take out a huncies main guns.

It has a much slimmer torso profile than the hunchi and once you learn to use the arms as sheilds it can take one hell of a beating. I love it! ;)
